Name: Prof. Frank Monahan, Chairperson
Background: Frank Monahan is an associate professor in the School of Agriculture, Food Science and Veterinary Medicine. He travelled to Delhi as a volunteer with UCDVO in 2005 and 2006, acting as group leader on the 2006 trip. He was also a group leader on the Tanzania 2009 project and Haiti 2010 project.

Name: Prof. James Phelan
Background:Jim Phelan is Professor of Extension and Rural Development in UCD. He has worked in the field of overseas development for many years in various capacities such as UCD Co-ordinator to the Sokoine Extension Project in Tanzania, consultant to Irish Aid in Tanzania, Ethiopia and Uganda, and most recently with the Agriculture Sector Development Programme in Tanzania. Jim was Chairperson of UCDVO from September 2008 - October 2011 following the departure of Fr. Tony Coote.

Name: Sarah Jolley
Background: Sarah graduated from Architecture in UCD in 2003 and that summer travelled as part of the first group of UCD volunteers to Delhi. She currently works as an Architect in Dublin-based practice Hassett Ducatez Architects. Sarah was Secretary of the UCDVO Board from 2008 - 2011, Group Leader for the Nicaragua 2009 and 2010 projects.

Name: David Kelly, Senior Treasurer

Background: David is the Director of Financial Planning and Strategy at UCD. He has been a member of the Board of UCDVO since 2010.

Name: Michael Lynch, Junior Treasurer
 

Background: Michael Lynch travelled to Delhi in 2006 and 2007 (as student leader) while undertaking his degree in Business and Legal Studies. He graduated from UCD in 2008 and recently became Treasurer of UCDVO. Michael now works as a Graduate Trainee for KPMG.

Name: Dr. Oonagh Breen
Background: Dr. Oonagh Breen is a senior lecturer in the UCD School of Law. She has spent the past year on research leave at the Hauser Center for Nonprofit Organizations, Harvard University. Oonagh has been instrumental in revising the legal structure of UCDVO to ensure that we continue to enjoy charitable status and are recognised fully as a UCD Society.

Name: Elizabeth Fuller

Background: Elizabeth is a founding member of the Newpark Music Centre where she currently teaches music. Elizabeth took part in the UCDVO Delhi 2004 project and later returned as a Group Leader in 2009. She was also a member of the Board from 2006 - 2008.

Name: Niall Murphy
Background: Niall took part in UCDVO's Haiti project in 2009, returned as a Student Leader in 2010 and again as a Group Leader in 2011. Niall also undertook a six-month placement in Gros Morne, Haiti and was instrumental in planning and implementing the 2011 project activities, particularly the construction of 54 latrines. Niall is currently undertaking a Masters in Humanitarian Action in UCD via the NOHA programme.

Name: Niall Fox

Background: Niall graduated from UCD with a degree in Law (European) in 2010. He travelled to Delhi as a volunteer in 2008 and returned as a student leader in 2009. He is also part of the Haiti 2011 team. Niall has been a student representative on the UCDVO Board since 2009, Treasurer of the UCDVO Campus Committee in 2009/10 and is currently an alumni representative to the Board.

Name: Edward Cahill, Secretary

Background: Edward took part in the UCDVO Nicaragua project in 2007 and returned as a Student Leader in 2011. He is currently undertaking the Masters in Development Practice between UCD and Trinity. Edward was elected as Secretary of Board in November 2011.

Name: Aisling Daly

Background: Aisling took part in the UCDVO Nicaragua 2010 project and has since taken part in the South Africa Alumni project in 2011. She is currently in her final year studying Human Nutrition at UCD.

Name: Ross McCarthy

Background: Ross graduated from UCD in 2010 with a degree in International Commerce and took part in the UCDVO Nicaragua project that same year. He went on to earn an MSc in Economic Development and Finance from the University of Glasgow and is currently working for the humanitarian organisation Medecins Sans Frontieres in Dublin.

Name: Sinead Hughes

Background: Sinead is in her final year studying Bio-medical Engineering at UCD. She took part in the Haiti 2010 project and returned as Student Leader in 2011. Sinead is also Auditor of the UCDVO Student Society and has co-ordinated the UCDVO Charity Ball for the past two years.

Name: Philip Craven

Background: Phil is in his fourth year studying Medicine at UCD. He took part in the Haiti 2010 project and returned as Student Leader in 2011. Phil is also the Treasurer of the UCDVO Student Society and has been involved in UCDVO campus activities for the past number of years.
