About the UCDVO Annual Conference

The UCDVO Annual Conference now in its 4th year, is funded by the Concern Worldwide Development Education Grants Scheme. Themes from previous years include (i) Perspectives on International Volunteering in Education (ii) Volunteering for Sustainable Development and (iii) International Volunteering, Where Can it Take You?

Development Education & Pathways to Change

 

 UCDVO's Annual Conference will be held on Friday 1st December 2017, 10:00 - 4.30, Global Lounge, UCD.

Taking in the breadth of UCDVO’s year-long ‘Volunteering and Development Education Programme’, this years conference will focus on the unique value of critical thinking and development education at University level. That is, education to facilitate a greater understanding of the challenges facing humanity and the interconnected nature of our world; and for individuals to develop the skills and determination to act for equality, both locally and globally.

The day will include guest speakers, a storytelling session and workshops on different themes.

UCDVO Annual Conference 2016

International Volunteering: Where Can it Take You?

UCDVO's Annual Conference was held on Saturday 26th November 10.00 - 17.00 in the UCD Global Lounge, Belfield. The title of this year's conference International Volunteering: Where Can it Take You? focused on the impact of international volunteering on personal and professional lives, as well as highlighting tangible opportunities for students, graduates and returned volunteers to pursue further studies and career paths in the development sector. The conference featured guest-speakers, workshops, an "opportunity market-place", and a story-telling session with returned volunteers who are now working in international development.

A photographic exhibition titled "Our Goals are Global Goals" was also showcased at the event to highlight the role of volunteering in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals.
