UCD Volunteers Overseas
Volunteer Programme

Applications for the 2020/21 Volunteering and Global Citizenship Programme are open from the 6th October to the 6th November 2020. Come along to one of our Programme Information Sessions to find out more.

UCDVO’s year-long programme combines international volunteering (onsite and online) and development education to encourage critical thinking and active citizenship. The programme places emphasis on developing participants’ interpersonal, intercultural, and life skills as well as increasing UCD’s global engagement.

Volunteering sits within the wider year-long UCDVO Volunteering and Global Citizenship Programme. The programme usually begins in November, but in 2021 will begin in January. Volunteering will take the form of remote or online volunteering for the year 2021 and will take place during the summer months.

The programme is open to all members of the UCD community, (students, staff and alumni) and includes several development education workshops, project planning days, leadership training, health and safety, as well as approximately four weeks volunteering (online or onsite) with one of our overseas partners in India, Tanzania or Uganda.

The minimum fundraising amount for the 2020/21 UCDVO Programme is €750. A deposit of €150 is required to secure a place on the programme following an offer; €600 must be raised by the end of May 2021. UCDVO will support volunteer fundraising through training and guidance.
